The following equation may prove helpful in finding the appropriate size of a TV set for any room:

For a Tube Set:

1. Measure the length of the room, in feet.
2. Subtract 2.5 feet.
3. Divide the remainder by three.
4. Double the remainder and divide by five. Use the result as the maximum height of the set.

For Example:

If your room is 14.5 feet in length, subtract 2.5 feet for the depth of the set. Take the remainder of 12 feet and divide by three, yielding four feet. Double that to eight and divide by five, giving a maximum screen height of 1.6 feet.

For a Rear Projection Set:

1. Measure the length of the room, in feet.
2. Subtract 2.5 feet.
3. Divide the remainder by three.
4. Double the remainder and divide by three. Use the result as the maximum height of the set.

For Example:

If your room is 14.5 feet in length, subtract 2.5 feet for the depth of the set. Take the remainder of 12 feet and divide by three, yielding four feet. Double that to eight and divide by three, giving a maximum screen height of 2.7 feet.
